<Description>
<DescriptionText><text>
Enables swath overlapping and other imaging features unique to the current
machine type.
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
On Spectrums and Proofsetters, this parameter enables special image data
controls in the FDPE, as well as overlapping the swaths by 1/2. This is needed
for certain proofing medias that use a donor/receiver imaging combination.
When this parameter is enabled on Spectrums and Proofsetters, the media
extra_scanlines parameter is ignored and a value of 2 extra scanlines is used
in its place.
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
On VLF Flexo and all other thermal machines, this parameter enables various
degrees of swath overlapping to overwrite difficult medias, such as
flexographic medias. This results in each pixel being imaged multiple times,
equal to the value set in overwriting plus 1.
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
When this parameter is enabled on a VLF Flexo machine, the media
extra_scanlines parameter is still used, unless a 1200 dpi plot mode is
selected, in which case the extra-scanlines parameter is ignored and a value of
0 is used in its place. (a 1200 dpi plot mode is when subscan_duplicate is
set to 2). In other words, extra_scanlines is used like on other machines,
except 1200 dpi internally forces extra_scanlines to 0.
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
The imaging time is increased by a factor of (overwriting + 1), as the
carriage speed is reduced by the same factor. Some machines may compensate for
this by increasing the NVS hdm drum speed parameter for that media type.

<Notes>
<DescriptionText><text>
This feature is supported on all trendsetter products, but not automatic
platesetters (though it may work, we don't support it).
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
This feature requires the FDPE or better.
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
On Spectrums and Proofsetters, overwriting cannot be enabled with 1200
dpi imaging, i.e. the current mode subscan_duplicate parameter must be 1 if
overwriting is enabled on the current media. Also for Spectrums and
Proofsetters, the head must be 224 pps.
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
Negative orthogonality correction is not possible with this parameter enabled
on any machine. This means very small plates or film that rest on the central
registration pins and use the NVS gc sprot or gc vsprot parameters cannot be
imaged with overwriting enabled.
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
This parameter is a renaming of "media spm" (special_plot_mode), which was a
renaming of "media il" (interleaving).
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
For EL proofing (Spectrum EL models), this value is locked at 3 for proofing media.
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
For S plating (Spectrum EL, Spectrum S, Trendsetter S models), this value is locked
at 1 for non-proofing media.
